Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (CVPICU)
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- PCICU experience is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with NICU or Pediatric Stepdown experience who have PICU floating experience will also be considered.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- Floating between units required.
- Orientation sessions held bi-weekly.
- Flu vaccination is mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted.
- Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Experience & Licensure Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty (Registered Nurse).
- Licensure: North Carolina RN license or Compact license must be in hand.
- Prior travel experience is not required.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certified.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., ACLS, NRP, CHEMO) — refer to unit requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in PCICU preferred; NICU and Pediatric Stepdown with PICU floating experience considered.
- Ability to float to different units as needed.
- Must be able to work every other weekend.
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Flu vaccine required annually (no exemptions).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunizations or positive titers required (no exemptions).
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination required.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer required.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start.
- Other health screenings and immunizations as per facility policy.
Background & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days of start, including multi-county and nationwide searches.
- Employment application and 7 years of work history required.
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, including at least one supervisor.
- Competency exams and unit-specific checklists required.
- Must set up a facility guest account prior to clearance.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation.
- Competency checklists must be completed within 3 weeks after start date.
- Orientation includes training on crisis prevention and other unit-specific competencies.
