Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Winter Haven, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking an Operating Room Registered Nurse for a short-term acute care, teaching hospital with 447 staffed beds. The position involves working in a busy OR environment with 11 main ORs, covering surgical specialties including robotic, orthopedic, general, gynecology, vascular, urology, and neurology (ortho spine).

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Start Date: March 2
• Ratios: 1:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Weekend work required
• On-call required: 3 overnight shifts and 1-2 weekend call shifts per 4-week period
• No floating outside scope of practice
• Block scheduling not accommodated
• Locals and pending licenses not accepted
• Guaranteed hours apply after first call off per pay period
• Call response time: 30 minutes
• Hours of operation: 6 AM - 9 PM (urgent/emergent cases after 7 PM only)
• Patient population: Primarily adult, no pediatric patients

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty (Operating Room)
• First-time travelers accepted
• BCLS certification required
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Circulate skills required
• Experience with Cerner EMR required

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Active, unrestricted Florida RN license
• BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification preferred/required as applicable
• NURSYS verification required for RN license
• Other certifications as applicable to the OR setting

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 6 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (annual TB questionnaire required)
• Immunizations or titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination (mask required if declined)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption
• Drug screening: Standard 9-panel within 30 days (instant tests not accepted)
• Respirator medical clearance if respirator use is required
• Background checks including education verification, fingerprinting (Florida AHCA Level II), EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Competency exams as applicable (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, color blindness)

Additional Facility Requirements

• Photo for badge prior to start (professional, clear, no filters)
• Completion of BayCare Health System online learning modules prior to start (4-8 hours)
• Compliance with BayCare dress code and tobacco policy
• References: 2 professional references from past 2 years required
• Employment application and skills checklist required
