Job Opportunity: NICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lake Forest, Illinois

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Minimum 2 years of experience in SCN (Special Care Nursery)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (required for all RNs)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (required for NICU and related specialties)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, NICU, Nursery
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - AWHONN certification required for Labor & Delivery (Intermediate or Advanced accepted)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal background, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
• Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant or dilute tests accepted)
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (TD not accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as applicable
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B vaccine series or positive titer (declinations accepted)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or declination with required documentation
• Fit mask testing (3M Aura 1870+), updated annually
• Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry eligibility and fingerprinting required prior to start
• Employment history covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Additional Requirements

• Must complete competency exams and skills checklists as required
• Must review and acknowledge facility policies including confidentiality, privacy, sexual harassment training, and cannabis acknowledgment
• Completion of facility-specific training modules and agreements prior to start
• Accommodation request forms for vaccinations or fit testing must be submitted within 24-48 hours of contract signing if applicable

Notes

• Prior travel experience is NOT explicitly required for this position
• Associates degree is acceptable; BSN is not mandatory
• Must be able to work every other weekend
• No on-call duties required

This position is ideal for NICU RNs with at least 2 years of SCN experience who are comfortable with high-risk deliveries and meet the comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
