Position Details

Experience & Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 3 years preferred (can consider 2 years with screening)

    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (80% minimum in dosage calculations)
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (may be required depending on unit)
    • Conscious Sedation Competency Exam (for GI Lab/Endo RNs)

Job Description Highlights

  • Work with childbearing women and newborns: antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Facility is a Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 150 births per month.
  • High-risk patient population (70% complex high risk).
  • Level 4 NICU available as a regional center.
  • Two operating rooms on unit for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum procedures.
  • Second L&D RN acts as "baby catcher" for well, non-compromised babies.
  • EPIC electronic charting system.
  • Magnet and teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds.
  • Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any color allowed.

Work Conditions

  • Guaranteed hours: In case of low census, providers may be called off without charge or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift worth of hours in a 2-week cycle.
  • No scheduling on weekends or holidays for ambulatory or surgical services areas that are closed during those times.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and state-specific searches.
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
  • Primary source verification of state license.
  • Physical exam (required by agency, not facility).
  • Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start.
  • Immunizations and health requirements:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines.
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination required.
    • Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted at this facility).
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination during flu season.
    • COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking.
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within one year of start (agency requirement).
  • Facility-specific training such as EPIC integration video and Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training for L&D RNs.
  • Suicide prevention training required for multi-state licensed nurses working in Washington.
  • Various facility-specific agreements and checklists must be completed prior to start.

Additional Notes

  • Performance evaluations requested at end of assignment (Montlake location).
  • Parking cost approximately $10.26 daily.
  • Facility is a Magnet and teaching hospital with trauma designation.
  • Scrubs provided for OR staff; any color allowed.
