Job Description
NICU Registered Nurses are needed for day shifts.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years NICU Level IV experience required
- Licensure: Active nursing license required
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- References: 2 clinical references, including at least 1 leadership reference from assignments within the last year
- Floating: Required
Required Skills
- Care of neonates > 34 weeks gestation
- Phototherapy
- Breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk
- Feedings (bottle, breast gavage)
- Placement and management of oral, nasogastric, and nasojejunal tubes
- Isolation precautions
- Central line and implanted line care
- Starting and maintaining IVs
- Administration of antibiotics and antivirals
- Neonatal dosage calculations
- Phlebotomy
Preferred Skills
- Experience with NICU III
- Care of neonates 24-28 weeks and 29-34 weeks gestation
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts
- Shift time: 06:45 AM - 07:15 PM
- Commitment to 4 shifts per month required
- Candidates must not be actively pursuing other per diem or travel jobs that would interfere with shift commitment
- Compliance with all onboarding deadlines is mandatory
Orientation
- 2-3 days orientation:
- Friday: Virtual orientation
- Monday: In-person orientation
- Wednesday: Epic training (test-out option for experienced users)

- Charting: Epic
- Medication dispensing: Pyxis
Additional Requirements & Information
- 7-year criminal background check including sex offender registry
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Respiratory fit mask test required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within the last year
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (proof of series or declination)
- Varicella (immunity by history, titer, or vaccination)
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required (October 1 - March 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination required with limited medical exemptions only; religious exemptions not accepted
- ACLS certification recommended (required for other units but not explicitly for NICU)
- Competency exams and color vision testing required
- 1-year separation period for previous permanent employees
- Scrubs color: Royal Blue
- First-time travelers accepted

- Not required; first-time travelers are accepted
