Neonatal ICU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Travel/contract role in New Haven, Connecticut
- 13-week assignment
- 36 hours per week
- Day or night 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Floating within scope may be required
- Guaranteed hours included
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with central lines
- Experience with orogastric (OG) and nasogastric (NG) feeding
- Phlebotomy skills
Schedule
- Schedule is built in 6-week blocks
- Day and night shifts are generally not mixed within the same week
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
Clinical Details
- Neonatal ICU setting
- Typical patient ratio is 1:2–4
- On-call is not required
Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements
- Pending license is accepted if active before start
- RTO longer than 7 days requires approval
- Medication competency assessment is required during orientation
- Color blindness testing is required
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit testing within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Negative TB documentation or chest X-ray required
- TB questionnaire required annually
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- References required within 3 years of start
- 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
- Employment verification for the last 7 years is required for start dates on or after 8/2/2024
