Job Opportunity: PT Inpatient Rehab

Location: San Francisco, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in an acute rehabilitation/inpatient rehab facility.
  • 8-hour day shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Physical Therapist license in California.
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or Bachelor's degree (if graduated over 15 years ago).
  • Minimum 1 year of Physical Therapist experience within the last year.
  • Experience in a Rehabilitation setting.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association.

Required Documentation & Background Checks

  • Current and valid driver’s license, government photo ID, or US Passport matching professional license.
  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including specific county and nationwide checks.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript.
  • Work history verification covering 7 years, with explanations for gaps of 30 days or more.
  • Two supervisory references from recent employment.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (AHA) required for all clinical positions.
  • Pass/fail medication and telemetry exams required for nurses (not applicable for PT).
  • Core competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific mask types required).
  • Drug testing (standard 9 panel excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted except medical exemptions).
  • Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start.
  • Required immunizations or titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (IGG titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-April).
  • COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required.

Facility & Orientation Requirements

  • Photo for badge must be submitted by the Monday prior to start.
  • Uniform/scrub color guidelines apply; UCSF branded scrubs are optional.
  • Completion of facility-specific learning modules; RNs must complete modules before Day 1 if starting on Tuesday.
  • Review and sign confidentiality and acceptable use agreements.
  • Completion of annual TB questionnaire prior to start.
  • Cyber Security Awareness Training and quiz required before or at orientation.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) and other unit-specific certifications may be required depending on assignment.
