Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Quinter, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 17:45–6:00)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Overview

• Approximately 1-2 deliveries per week; workload is about 75% medical-surgical nursing.
• Critical access hospital setting; prior critical access experience is required.
• Patient ratios: 1:1 for OB patients, 1:3 for medical-surgical patients.
• Block scheduling available.
• Charting system: CPSI/Perigen.
• Shared housing available (duplex), with hotel nearby.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Recommended Certifications (Not Mandatory)

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Immunizations or titers required for: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination/exemption required during flu season; unvaccinated staff must wear masks onsite.
• COVID-19 vaccination required (first dose and fully vaccinated by specified dates) or approved medical/religious exemption.
• Drug screening: 10-panel test within 1 year, updated annually.
• Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position.

Background and Documentation

• 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions.
• State-specific exclusion list checks for Kansas and Missouri required.
• Transcript or diploma verification required.
• Employment application/resume required.
• Skills checklist for applicable unit, updated annually.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement (signed HIPAA or CORE testing acceptable).
