Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Requires 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Work every other weekend.
  • Float to all care areas to care for medical-surgical patients.
  • Unit is a comprehensive overflow unit staffed by hospitalists, caring for patients from all disciplines.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Parking available onsite with no fee.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • E-Verify compliance.
  • State-specific background and caregiver searches as applicable.
  • Post-start orientation checklists must be completed during orientation.
  • Candidates must complete respirator fit test onsite; refusal to be clean-shaven for fit test will result in cancellation.
  • Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background).
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams may be required per facility standards.
  • Some units may require additional certifications such as Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) depending on assignment.

Work Environment

  • Night shift with 12-hour shifts, 3 times per week.
  • Floating to various care areas providing diverse patient care experience.
  • Comprehensive overflow unit with patients from multiple specialties.

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
  • Candidates must be prepared to comply with all health and safety documentation and training requirements.
  • Facility does not provide PAPR/CAPR respirators; candidates must be willing to be clean-shaven for fit testing.
