Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lancaster, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Neuro/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse
• Shift Options:

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
  • 4 shifts of 12 hours (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities as needed
• Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
• Call Out Policy: After 2 call outs without documented medical reason, contract may be cancelled
• Schedule Flexibility: Must be flexible to meet unit needs
• Local Radius: 60 miles
• Locals Accepted: Yes, on a case-by-case basis

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Telemetry competency

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters if low titer
• TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
• Drug Screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded

• Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start (approx. 2 hours) via computer/laptop

• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• Hurricane Season (June–November): Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (Aug–Sept) if this is a concern

This position requires a flexible, experienced Neuro/PCU RN with telemetry competency and current South Carolina licensure, ready to work 12-hour day shifts with weekend rotation and floating responsibilities.
