Job Description

• Pediatric recovery room experience required.
• Shift: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (9:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
• Total hours per week: 40.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in California
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Pediatrics PACU (Post Anesthetic Care Unit) experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Pediatric recovery room experience
• PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance and Background Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including:

  • All counties lived or worked.
  • Sex offender registry check (all aliases in SSN trace).
  • Education verification.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
• Copy of diploma/transcripts or education verification required (may start pending).
• Primary source verification of RN license required.
• NURSYS verification required.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Fit test for respirator mask within 6 months of start (acceptable masks: 3M 1860 or Ameritech Progear, size indicated).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 6 months of start.
• Tdap vaccine required within 10 years of start.
• TB test (Negative PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 30 days or 1 year of start; facility may administer a second PPD onsite. Positive responders must provide chest X-ray documentation.
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination form)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct–April 1). No declinations allowed.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (required for agency placements only).
• Respirator clearance form or equivalent required (updated annually for direct placements, every 2 years for subcontractors).
• COVID vaccines preferred but not required as of May 2024.

Additional Notes

• No prior travel experience explicitly required.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable; passing score 80% or higher. Facility will administer their own pharmacology exam on the first day.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred but not required.

This position offers an opportunity to work in a pediatric post-anesthesia care unit with a focus on recovery room nursing in a travel contract setting.
