Registered Nurse – Infusion

Location: Aurora, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (4 x 8-hour shifts, 32 hours/week)
Start Date: July 13 (required)


Job Description

  • Work in the Cancer Center Infusion Department
  • Locals welcome at the same rate

Required Qualifications

  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only) required
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chemotherapy certification desirable but not required
  • Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Required Certifications & Training

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • Completion of Illinois Mandatory Reporting Training (required for all clinical patient-facing/in-person positions; valid for 3 years)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam with minimum passing score of 80% (or higher if Angoff score dictates)
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • National Criminal Database Search
    • Global Terrorist Search
    • National Sex Offender Search
    • Alias Search
    • FACIS Level 3
  • Drug screening (9-panel, excluding marijuana) within 90 days of start; must include Nitrate and Creatinine levels; rapid drug screens not accepted
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, or PA, confirming fitness to work and free of communicable diseases
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold/TSPOT within 90 days or 2 PPDs with proper documentation)
    • Annual TB questionnaire (required regardless of TB status)
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer (with vaccine series or declination form if negative)
    • 2 MMR vaccines or positive IgG titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella (with follow-up vaccine if low titer)
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive IgG titer (with follow-up vaccine if low titer)
    • Tdap vaccine valid within 10 years (declinations accepted with prior vaccination record and facility form)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (documentation required prior to November 1)

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • E-Verify compliance
  • Employment application covering 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • 2 professional references within 3 years (for direct hires)
  • Skills checklist updated annually (as applicable)
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment
  • State-specific mandated reporter form for Illinois clinical patient-facing staff
  • Fingerprinting and addition to Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) registry required for non-RN patient-facing candidates; RNs exempt from fingerprinting requirement

  • Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois; out-of-state fingerprinting is not accepted
  • Drug screen must be initiated within 24-48 hours of offer acceptance and completed timely
  • Physical exam and immunization documentation must be uploaded and valid at start
  • Some certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required depending on unit; consult unit-specific requirements if applicable
