Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Job Summary

• Provide therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care.
• Assess, treat, and evaluate patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities.
• Work across all adult services including Emergency Room, Code Blue, general floors, and ICU.
• Implement patient care plans based on physician orders and clinical judgment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift Details

• Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
• One weekend required per month
• No on-call requirements

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in California
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist within the last year
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check within 6 months of start, including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, and education verification
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter
• EPLS, HHS/OIG, OFAC, SAM, and Medi-Cal Suspended and Ineligible Provider List checks as applicable
• Education verification of highest level achieved (not required if highest education is high school)
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Negative TB test (QGold, TSPOT, or PPD) within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, must clear candidate for work
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations for religious exemptions or failed tests)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (Nov 1 - Apr 30), or signed declination
• Respiratory Safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Documentation and Verification

• Full 7 years of work history required on application, with no gaps
• Employment verification for up to 7 years, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical and allied acute care candidates
• Unit-specific skills checklist required, renewed annually (Aya requirement)
• Various facility-specific documents and policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including code of conduct, vendor training, and standards of business conduct

Additional Notes

• ICU and Telemetry RNs at this location are required to take an onsite EKG exam after start (not applicable for this RRT role)
• Religious exemptions for facial hair and vaccines are considered on a case-by-case basis with required documentation
