ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Boone, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per month
• Patient Ratio: ICU 1:2 (may vary when floating)
• Float Requirement: Must be willing to float between ICU, Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), and Medical-Surgical units based on patient volume
• Patient Population: Primarily adult ICU patients; occasional pediatric patients may be encountered and nurse must be comfortable caring for them
• Dress Code: All white or all navy scrubs
• Local Rule: Candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility are not eligible

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience and comfort with ventilators (vents)
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Valid Driver's License

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License) required for address verification prior to offer acceptance
• Background check: 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• E-Verify or attestation proof required
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Completed employment application/resume
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Photo for badge: Passport-style, shoulders up, front-facing, neutral background, high resolution, JPEG format
• Self-Study Orientation and Post Test must be completed; re-completed after any contract break
• Signed Accountability Statements and Personal Data Sheet required; re-completed after any contract break
• Criminal History Investigation Form if background check returns a hit

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Initial physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands; updated annually
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QuantiFERON Gold, or T-spot) or clear chest X-ray if previously positive; updated annually
• Immunizations or titers within 5 years for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; shingles vaccine not accepted)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30)
• 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 90 days of start; updated annually

Additional Notes

• Candidates must submit a cover sheet and current NURSYS report with all required Return to Office (RTO) documentation included
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
• Must be comfortable with floating and variable patient assignments within ICU and related units
