Job Opportunity: Electrophysiology Tech
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Four 10-hour day shifts per week (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM), with variable end times depending on procedure completion
- Caseload: 2-5 cases per day in one lab
- On-call: No
- Weekends: No
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of Electrophysiology Technician experience, including experience within the last year
- Current CCI certification
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
Facility & Work Environment
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
- Beds: 304 staffed beds
- Scrubs: Navy-colored EP Lab scrubs issued by hospital
- Charting System: Epic
- Parking: Free parking available with a pass provided at badge pickup; garages and lots available (garage clearance limited to average SUV size)
- Local Radius: 60-mile radius rule applies
- Locals: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
Important Notes
- Hurricane Season: Assignments during June-November may include emergency response duties; peak months are August and September
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called-off hours can be combined to equal one shift
- Block Scheduling: Possible with manager approval, depending on unit needs
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- Background check must be run within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification is pending
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified; attestation letters accepted only if other verification methods exhausted
- References: Two clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Employment Application: Must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam within 90 days of start, confirming ability to meet job demands without restrictions
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
- Immunizations & Titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; low titers require boosters
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive history, chest x-ray documentation required
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccines: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire

- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style color photo with solid light background, frontal view, cropped from shoulders up
- Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; average completion time ~2 hours; must be done on a computer, not a phone
- Facility Forms: Confidentiality and security agreements, contractor forms, employee info, and badge request must be completed before start
- Radiation Exposure Attestation: Required for those needing radiation badges; must be completed prior to start
- Physical Assessment for Sterile Processors: Required only if applicable, completed and signed by licensed provider within one year
