Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse

Location: Milford, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Schedule: Every other week (EOW/EOH)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background Check: 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, county searches, national criminal search, and federal exclusions
  • Education Verification: Third-party verification of highest completed education or transcript with graduation date
  • Statewide Massachusetts iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical Exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Drug Testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
  • Immunizations or valid declinations for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer, vaccines, or declination; declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, positive titer, or declination valid for 1 year)
    • Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, provider-documented history, or declination)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination (required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 vaccination (most recent as of August 2025) or facility-specific declination
  • Tuberculosis screening: Two PPD tests (one within 90 days, one within 1 year) or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days; positive TB requires chest X-ray and facility-specific questionnaire
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Medication exam required on first day of orientation with minimum 80% score; Telemetry exam required only if working in telemetry-monitored units (not required for OR, Psychiatry, Mother-Baby/Postpartum, NICU)
  • Competency Exams: Medication and Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required as applicable
  • References: Two professional references within the last three years
  • Employment Application: Must document 7 years of employment history with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills Checklist: Required prior to start and updated annually as applicable

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must pass all required exams and competency tests on the first attempt to avoid cancellation
  • Some certifications and trainings may be required or preferred depending on unit assignment (e.g., Trauma Nursing Core Course preferred for ER)
  • Facility-specific declinations for vaccines may not be accepted in certain patient populations (Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU)
  • Annual updates may be required for background checks and some certifications for direct hire candidates
