Pediatric Dietitian - Travel/Contract
Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Dietitian (Dietary Services)
- Daily caseload: 9-12 patients per day
- Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- Facility type: Level I Trauma, Children’s Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Short-term Acute Care
- Total staffed beds: 554
- Charting system: Cerner
- Parking: No fee
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- Experience working with pediatric patients in an inpatient setting within the last year
- Strong foundation in Enteral Nutrition and Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- COVID-19 vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- New Mexico state professional license required (original license with 3D seal must be presented onsite)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (verify during credentialing)
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Valid non-local driver’s license required (ID cards not accepted)
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within one year of start
- Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (unless completed within past 12 months)
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable if 3rd party verification unavailable)
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
- Fit mask test required within 1 year of start (specific N95 masks accepted; PAPR accommodations available if needed)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with additional requirements for past positive responders
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive IGG titer (history of disease not accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Declination, series, or titer acceptable
- Seasonal flu vaccine required year-round with exemptions accepted
- COVID vaccination no longer required but reporting still necessary
Work & Credentialing Requirements
- Complete employment application with at least 3 years of work history
- Two professional references within the last 3 years
- Work history verification for 3 years required, including detailed verification information
- Skills checklist required
- Orientation includes Cerner training attestation (optional test-out available for experienced Cerner users)
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia Exam and other competency exams may be required depending on unit (verify during credentialing)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for behavioral health units (including pediatrics)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required depending on unit
Scheduling & Contract Details
- Contracted hours: 36-48 hours per week, typically 40 hours
- Facility may call off up to 3 shifts
- New contracts and extensions must be at least 10 weeks
- A 6-month break is required after 4 consecutive assignments or 1 year of cumulative travel work, whichever comes first
- Requests for time off greater than 7 days require approval
- Block scheduling accommodations available

- Location is not near public transportation; candidates must have reliable transportation

- OT applies after 48 hours worked on contracts signed on or after 10/30/2025
