EEG Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position involves working in Pediatric EEG and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
- Shifts: Day shifts, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (either 8:00 AM–6:30 PM or 12:00 PM–10:30 PM).
- Ability to float to other facilities within the system is required.
Required Qualifications
- Certification: Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEGT).
- Education: High School diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in EEG, specifically with pediatric EEG and epilepsy monitoring.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Natus / XLTEK EEG systems, EEG monitoring with annotations, strong pattern recognition skills, and collodion set-up.
- Valid current professional license matching identity (e.g., state license).
- Current and valid driver’s license, government photo ID, or US Passport (identity must match professional license).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Certifications (Must be current and AHA-approved where applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for all clinical positions.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required for ICU and telemetry units (confirm if applicable).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working with pediatric units.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including specific county and nationwide searches, to be completed within 30 days of start and renewed annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript.
- Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC), within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work.
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved mask types required).
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years, no declinations accepted except medical exemptions).
- Negative TB tests (2 required: one within 1 year, one within 3 months of start) or chest X-ray if positive TB history.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required.
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year).
- Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended but not required as of current policy.
Competency and Training Requirements
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year of start.
- Core clinical competency exams (Parts I, II, III) with passing scores of 80% or higher, completed within 1 year prior to start and updated annually.
- Pass/fail telemetry exam on first day of orientation (specific to units requiring telemetry skills).
- Completion of facility-specific learning modules prior to or during first week of assignment.
Additional Requirements
- Two supervisory references required, preferably from the most recent or second most recent employer.
- Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
- Verification of 7 years of work history required (third-party verification if needed).
- Completion of facility-specific documents including:
- Parking and uniform information acknowledgment.
- COVID-19 preparedness and questionnaire prior to start.
- Annual TB questionnaire within 30 days of start.
- Emergency contact information.
- Cyber security awareness training and quiz (passing score 80%+).
- HIPAA training and quizzes as applicable.
Notes
- This position is part of a bargaining unit.
- Must be able to work 10-hour shifts, days or evenings as scheduled.
- Floating to other facilities within the system may be required.
