Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the Main Operating Room
- Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
- Schedule: Friday to Sunday, no call required
- Orientation: 3-4 days
- Experience with robotic XI, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/gyn, some ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and Trauma Level 2 cases preferred
- 2-3 years of experience strongly preferred
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - as applicable
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification - as applicable
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required onsite at orientation
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
- Experience in orthopedic, ENT surgery, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular surgery, trauma, and robotic XI cases
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years
- Resume or employment application required
- Annual updates for skills checklist and background check
- Facility-specific documents including standards of conduct, dress code, and orientation acknowledgements must be completed
- Fit mask test required annually (specific mask types accepted)
Work Environment & Notes
- Exposure to a variety of surgical specialties including robotic and trauma cases
- No call on scheduled days
- Orientation and safety training required prior to start
- Time-sensitive completion of health and compliance documents within 72 hours of contract signing
