Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Oncology ICC / Emergency Room

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

This role involves working primarily in an Oncology Intermediate Care Clinic (ICC) with some floating to Emergency Department (ED) units as needed. The ICC unit cares for patients with hematology, oncology, and sickle cell conditions. Patients are generally more stable than those in the ED, with many discharged home from ICC. The unit is smaller, fostering strong staff relationships and a supportive environment.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start
  • Required health documents including physical exam, immunizations (Tdap, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B), TB screening, and flu vaccination or declination during flu season
  • Monthly monitoring for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG compliance
  • Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies

Competency Exams & Training

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
  • Unit-specific competency exams
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if needed)
  • NIH Stroke Certification required within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years (3.0 CE hours minimum)

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
  • Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgment
