Job Description

• Unit: Telemetry 3N – Medical-Surgical/Telemetry and Neuro/Stroke unit
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3/12s)
• Patient Population: General telemetry and neuro/stroke patients
• Average Daily Census: 28 patients
• Beds: 37
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 4:1
• Skills Focus: Neuro skills at levels 3 and 4

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
• No first-time travelers accepted
• Must be proficient in EPIC electronic health record system
• Must have experience with cardiac drips; traveler must have experience with at least 3 of the following 5 drips:

  • Amiodarone
  • Cardizem
  • Dopamine
  • Dobutamine
  • Nitro
• Required certifications and skills:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • IV Start
  • Telemetry certification
  • NIH Stroke Certification
• Flu vaccine required (exemptions considered case-by-case)

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing requirements
• State License 1 Verification completed
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with cardiac drips, including at least 3 of the following: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitro
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

• Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit-specific competency testing
• Must complete age-specific competency exam annually
• Must sign acknowledgment of pass/fail testing and EKG attestation prior to start
• Must complete facility-specific orientation agenda and knowledge review forms
• Must complete and submit nursing staffing form prior to start
• Must have at least 2 positive professional references
• Annual performance and internal evaluations required if employed more than 1 year with the agency
• No prior travel experience explicitly required, but no first-time travelers accepted (implying prior travel experience is necessary)

Important Notes

• Candidates who have taken a break of 1 year or more between assignments at this facility must retake the onsite EKG exam
• Candidates must renew their California RN license before expiration during the contract to avoid cancellation
• Flu vaccine deadline is October 30; medical or religious exemptions require documentation and mask-wearing while working
• Fit testing must be passed with specified N95 masks; facial hair must be trimmed to pass
• Onsite EKG exam is pass/fail with remediation required after first failure; failure after second attempt may result in contract cancellation
