Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work on an adolescent behavioral health unit with patients aged 14-17 years.
  • Unit consists of 4 rooms and 4 beds with an average daily census of 4 patients.
  • Patient age groups include adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Staffing ratios:
    • Days: 1 nurse to 2 patients
    • Nights: 1 nurse to 2 patients
    • Weekends: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Float required.
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend.
  • Block scheduling.
  • Medication system: Pyxis.
  • Documentation system: Cerner.
  • Communication method: SBAR.
  • Scrubs not provided; scrub color is navy blue.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska
  • Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or AVADE certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are welcome.
