Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position

Job Description

Skilled home care experience required (private duty nursing experience only not accepted)
Must have home health experience with OASIS training and experience
IV skills and wound care
General medical diagnoses
High-risk diagnoses including:
- Heart Failure (HF)
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Pneumonia
- Stroke
Post-operative care
Basic cardiopulmonary assessment
Wound care including ABI compression dressing, wound vac dressing
Care for Pleurx/Aseptdrain
Foley catheter change and care
Staple/suture removal
Use of glucometer and pro-time machine
SQ/IM injections
Lab draw venipuncture
IV skills including PICC line or Midline care and dressing change
SQ port access/deaccess
Skilled home care visits (Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial insurance)
6-8 home skilled visits per day

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, shifts vary:
- 8 AM to 5 PM
- 9 AM to 6 PM
Thursday to Monday or Friday to Tuesday shifts
Alternating weekend shifts
Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on HomeCare office needs

Requirements

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Valid driver’s license and reliable car for home visits
COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption on file
Flu shot or declination on file; mask wearing mandatory at all times while at work
Must wear any solid color scrubs

Certifications Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (check unit description if required)
Other certifications may be required depending on unit (PALS, NRP, EFM, etc.) - verify before assignment

Competencies and Exams

Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher)
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (100% lethal arrhythmia score required for certain units)
Color Blind Testing (Relias) prior to start
Stroke education CEUs (8 total credits required for certain units)
Other competency exams as applicable to profession and unit

Health and Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 6 months of start
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 10 weeks of start (or chest X-ray and TB questionnaire if prior positive)
Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test
Immunizations or titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement
COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required
Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required

Documentation and Compliance

Valid driver’s license must remain current throughout assignment
Background checks including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, education verification, and others within 1 year of start
Foreign equivalency evaluation if education completed outside USA or Puerto Rico
Primary source verification of state license required
NURSYS verification for RN licenses
Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
Photo for badge with solid background required prior to start
Personal or auto insurance required and must be current throughout assignment
Completion of BayCare Online Learning Center modules prior to start (4-8 hours, deadline Thursday before start)
BayCare Health MSP dress code and tobacco policy compliance
BayCare Health MSP fit mask acknowledgement required

Additional Notes

Laptop, MiFi, and portable printers provided for documentation and scheduling
Documentation systems used: BayCare Forms, BayCare Scheduling, Ace Timesheet
Candidates must upload all required documents and certifications to be cleared for assignment
References from the past 2 years required
