Job Opportunity: RN Medical/Surgical (4E Nights)
Location: Evansville, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (Night Shift)
Unit: Ortho / Neuro, 16 beds
Patient Ratio: 1:6-8
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a combined Orthopedics and Neuroscience unit.
- Manage patient assignments with a ratio of 1 nurse to 6-8 patients.
- Work night shift hours in a 16-bed unit.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding & Compliance Requirements
Mandatory Exams & Competencies (must be completed prior to start and updated every 3 years)
- Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts).
- Medical Surgical Exam (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts).
- EKG Exam (minimum 80% score, max 2 attempts; updated edition as of Dec 1, 2023).
- Core Competencies covering HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics (minimum 80% or national benchmark score, max 2 attempts).
Health & Immunization Requirements
- MMR: Documented proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or verified history; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
- TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, negative chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Fit Test: Required for all travelers; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
- Health Statement: Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12 Panel Drug Screen: Within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
Documentation & Verification
- Resume/Profile submission required.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start.
- Employment verification for the past 7 years.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start.
- Signed assignment agreement and confirmation of assignment documentation.
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters).
Additional Notes
- Some onboarding requirements are completed onsite.
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be uploaded by unit leader within one week of start.
- All exams and competencies require a minimum passing score and have limited attempts.
- Compliance documents must be updated annually or upon break in service longer than 90 days.
This position is ideal for experienced Medical/Surgical RNs comfortable with night shifts and working in a combined Ortho/Neuro unit with a moderate patient load.
