Job Opportunity: RN ICU - Travel Position
Location: Waco, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Minimum of 3 years of ICU nursing experience required.
- Work in a conglomerate ICU unit covering medical, surgical, and cardiovascular patients.
- Ability to float between critical care service lines including ICU and step-down units.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in Texas with primary source verification within 30 days prior to start.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA required).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification (AHA required).
- Completion of specialty competency exams and assessments prior to assignment and updated every 3 years, including:
- Ascension Specialty Exam
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA)
- Ascension EKG Exam
- Ascension Skills Checklist (clinical specialty competency)
- Annual or periodic certifications and health requirements:
- NIH Certification (updated every 1-2 years depending on group)
- Color Vision Test (updated every 3 years)
- Influenza Vaccine or mask requirement during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- MMR vaccination or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or immunity proof (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap vaccination (valid for 10 years, no declinations accepted)
- Fit Test for respiratory protection (updated annually)
- TB screening: Positive IGRA or PPD results, negative chest X-ray within 1 year, and annual TB questionnaire
- 2-Step PPD or IGRA within 90 days of start
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Verification and documentation requirements:
- Education verification relevant to clinical work (within 90 days of start)
- Employment verification for past 7 years
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry (within 30 days of start)
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start
- Driver’s License/State ID (must be current and valid)
- Completion of onboarding and training modules including:
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation
- Ascension Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding
- Ascension Nova StatStrip training
- Ascension Epic Test-Out and Training Checklist
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
Additional Information
- Flu season mask requirement applies from October 1, 2024 through March 31, 2025.
- Must complete all required documentation and verifications prior to assignment start.
- Vendor partner will send a post-assignment survey to be completed within 72 hours of assignment completion.
