Job Opportunity: RN Med/Surg (Step Down Unit)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)

Unit Overview

• Unit Capacity: 23 beds
• Patient Population: Acute medical/surgical patients requiring observation or inpatient acute care
• Patient Age Range: Young Adult through Late Adult (18 - 60+)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Staffing includes RNs, LPNs, Patient Care Technicians, Nurse Interns
• RNs assume full responsibility for patients on their team

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Stepdown unit experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA certified
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA certified
• Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test
• Completion of unit-specific competencies and assessments (e.g., EKG exam, core competencies) with minimum passing scores
• Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (two vaccines or positive titer)
  • Varicella (two vaccines, immunity evidence, or history)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions require mask wearing)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA, chest x-ray if positive)
• Fit testing for respiratory protection (updated annually)
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
• Background checks including criminal, employment, and professional verifications
• Professional references (minimum two)
• Completion of onboarding education and attestations specific to nursing contingent workers
• Driver’s license or state ID (valid and matching address requirements)

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: RN Step Down / Med-Surg
• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
• Prior travel experience: Not required

• Contract length interpreted as approximately 13 weeks
• Staffing and competency requirements include ongoing annual updates and re-verifications
• Onsite onboarding and training required
• Various professional and health documentation must be current and uploaded prior to or at onboarding
