Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Job Description
- Provide nursing care in the Pediatric Emergency Department.
- Schedule includes every other weekend and holidays.
- Requires a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Emergency Room nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification
- NIHSS certification
- CPI certification
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Health and Immunizations
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider; no declinations accepted.
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza Vaccine: Optional; if declined during flu season, mask wearing required.
- TB Screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Fit Test: Required annually; preferred before start, can be completed onsite.
Drug Screening
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start; updated annually. Retesting required if break in service > 90 days.
Background and Verification
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days prior to start; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually or after break in service > 90 days.
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start; updated after break in service > 90 days.
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment.
- Driver’s license or state ID must be current and match address on file.
Competency and Training
- Ascension Core Competencies: HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics; minimum 80% passing score; updated every 3 years.
- Ascension EKG Exam: Passing score of at least 80%; updated every 3 years.
- Ascension CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training): 8-hour course; updated every 2 years.
- Ascension Skills Checklist: Clinical specialty checklist; completed within one year of start and updated annually.
- Ascension Onboarding Requirements Education Attestation and Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding: Must be completed prior to start.
- Ascension Nova StatStrip pre-hire modules required prior to clearance.
- Ascension Badge Photo: Forward-facing headshot with white or blue background; no alterations.
Health Statements
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to first assignment; updated annually.
- Ascension Color Vision test completed prior to start and updated every 3 years.
Additional Information
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start.
- Hiring manager evaluation and name change documentation are optional.
This position requires a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room RN with solid ER experience, current licensure, and compliance with extensive onboarding and health requirements. The role involves long shifts with weekend and holiday coverage.
