Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
Job Summary
As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in the GI Lab / Endoscopy setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care according to established standards. You will collaborate with healthcare team members and ensure quality, safety, and ethical care throughout your shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing, systematic patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and identify individualized patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement prioritized, goal-directed nursing care plans.
- Educate patients and their significant others based on identified learning needs.
- Document care accurately and timely in patient records.
- Respond efficiently and calmly in emergency situations following protocols.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in staff development and maintain current nursing knowledge.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain accountability for professional practice and legal/ethical standards.
- Incorporate hourly rounding into daily practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Endoscopy, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- State license verification completed within 30 days prior to start.
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
- Passing score (80% or higher) on Core Competency Exams relevant to nursing.
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series.
- Varicella – positive IgG titer or 2 vaccine series.
- Hepatitis B – positive antibody titer, 3 vaccine series, or specific declination form.
- Influenza vaccine or specific declination form (mask required if declined).
- Tuberculosis testing within the last 12 months (PPD or Quantiferon).
- Fit test for approved respirator models within the last 12 months.
- Physical/Health statement from an approved provider within the last 12 months.
- Valid, unexpired U.S. driver’s license or state ID.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including county and national criminal searches.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (9+ panel).
- Submission of a detailed resume covering the last 7 years of employment and education.
- Two professional references: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the last 3 years.
- Completion of required agency forms, acknowledgments, and training packets prior to start.

- COVID-19 vaccination proof or agency declination is optional but recommended.
- Tdap vaccination preferred within the last 10 years; if declined, a specific declination form is required.
