Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Estimated Hours: 36 hours per week, with possible overtime
Job Description
- Provide nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
- Deliver high-quality care to geriatric, medical/surgical, adult, and telemetry patient populations.
- Positions available on Medical Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Must self-study telemetry strips upon acceptance; a basic dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to work on the telemetry/med-surg unit.
- May be required to float occasionally to nearby campuses.
- May be placed on call during low census periods; if called in, must respond and arrive on-site within one hour.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing.
- Medical/Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- ACLS certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic medical records system.
Required Onboarding and Compliance
- Professional license verification (primary source verification within 30 days of start).
- Background check including SS trace and county search for the last 7 years.
- Drug screen (9-panel, within 30 days of start).
- Influenza vaccine or facility declination (due annually by December 1).
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted.
- Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, and Tdap immunizations or declinations accepted.
- TB test (negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive).
- Fit test for approved respirators prior to start.
- Health statement/physician statement within the last 12 months.
- Completion of required skills checklist within 12 months.
- Completion of required education verification.
- Completion of required state adult and child abuse training.
- Completion of required federal and state background screenings (EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG).
- Driver’s license or state ID current and valid.
- Completion of Epic registration acknowledgment form.
- Completion of pre-orientation computer-based learning acknowledgment.
- Submission of 2 professional references (1 must be from a supervisor).
- Submission of resume or professional profile.
- Completion of contract employee data sheet and other required documentation within specified timeframes.
Additional Information
- The traveler will not be part of a regular call rotation but must be available for occasional call-in.
- Must maintain high professional standards and effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
