Job Summary
Operate CT equipment under general supervision to acquire diagnostic images for physician use in diagnosis and treatment. The role involves floating among radiology clinics and divisions as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CT scanner, Power Injector, Laser Printer, and patient monitoring devices.
- Prepare, position, and immobilize patients; use protective shielding as needed.
- Select proper imaging factors and image designated body parts.
- Explain exams to patients considering their physical and emotional needs.
- Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist direction.
- Calibrate and verify equipment operation; report malfunctions.
- Complete Radiology Information System tasks (scheduling, exam completion, image transfer).
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintain CEUs per Massachusetts licensure and ARRT requirements.
- May oversee and instruct radiology students and other personnel.
- Prepare equipment and supplies for daily use.
- Participate in research, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects.
- Provide on-call coverage and flexible shift/overtime support.
- Rotate within department, divisions, and off-site clinics as required.
- Transport and transfer patients following departmental guidelines.
- Use independent judgment and initiative during patient exams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school.
- Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- Registered in CT by ARRT or equivalent; must maintain ARRT CT certification.
- 2-3 years’ experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred, including at least 1 year in cross-sectional anatomy.
- Level 1 trauma and Siemens CT experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical/emotional stress.
- Analytical abilities to understand imaging processes, techniques, procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Certifications and Compliance Requirements
- Current BLS certification (AHA preferred).
- ARRT certification.
- Fit Test for N95 respirator within 365 days of start date, updated annually.
- Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity.
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 - April 30).
- TB screening within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test).
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date.
- Criminal background checks including Massachusetts CORI, SSN trace, National Sex Offender Check, and Exclusion Checks.
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience.
- References (2 recent, minimum 1 supervisor or above).
- Skills checklist and candidate submission coversheet required.
- Education verification.
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation.
- Additional health and professional credential verifications as required.
