Registered Nurse (RN) - Behavioral Health

Location: Belle Mead, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
Hours: 12 hours/day, 36 hours/week
Schedule: Every other weekend required
Holiday Requirement: None
On-Call Requirement: None
Floating: Required

Job Summary

• Provide individualized quality patient care by assessing patient needs and designing, implementing, and evaluating care plans.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Perform nursing admission assessments considering patient age, disability, ethnicity, culture, and religion.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and assess their effects.
• Participate in treatment planning conferences and update plans accordingly.
• Maintain safe and orderly patient care environment, including handling infectious and hazardous materials.
• Document patient information accurately and timely in medical records.
• Participate in orientation of new personnel and students.
• Conduct nursing psycho-educational groups as scheduled.
• Model professional standards of behavior.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing required

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of behavioral health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting
• Float experience

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge and implementation of suicide prevention protocols
• Proficient in AED use
• Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and administer medications safely
• Ability to maintain therapeutic milieu and set therapeutic limits

Additional Information

• Must be able to float to different inpatient units as needed
• No holiday or on-call requirements
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities
• Provide age-appropriate patient and family education considering cultural and disability factors
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to advanced directives policies

This position requires a dedicated behavioral health nurse capable of working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care in an inpatient setting.
