Job Summary
- Provide Occupational Therapy services following physician's orders.
- Work within an interdisciplinary team to help patients achieve the highest level of independence and safety.
- Care for patients across the lifespan: pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Assess patient data to identify age-specific needs and develop appropriate care plans.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
- One weekend per month required
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate of a four-year bachelor’s degree Occupational Therapy program.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Occupational Therapist experience within the last year.
Licensure & Certification
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Mississippi.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to use moist heat, paraffin, and other physical agent modalities commonly used in occupational therapy.
Additional Information
- Typically completes 7 therapy sessions daily, mostly evaluations.
- Does not float to other departments.
- Stroke education of 2 hours annually required for acute care therapists.
- Works as part of a team including 3 OTs and 1 Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
Physical & Environmental Demands
- Must tolerate physically demanding tasks related to patient care and equipment handling.
- Adheres to safety measures for self and patients during all activities.
