Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Night Shift

Location: Olney, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Shift: Night (5:30 PM – 6:00 AM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive respiratory care under physician and respiratory therapy leadership, including ventilator management, airway maintenance, medication administration, and cardiopulmonary support.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer oxygen using various delivery devices.
• Set up, initiate, and maintain ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and Opiflow devices.
• Assist with intubation and perform endotracheal and tracheostomy care.
• Manage care during and after extubation.
• Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and life support procedures.
• Administer respiratory therapy medications and monitor for side effects.
• Use equipment for positive pressure, humidification, and nebulization therapies.
• Employ secretion removal techniques (hydration, breathing exercises, postural drainage, chest percussion, suctioning).
• Perform pulmonary function testing and operate related equipment.
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs and prepare for physician interpretation.
• Perform arterial punctures and arterial line draws per guidelines.
• Oversee and supervise certified and non-certified technicians as needed.
• Assemble, dismantle, and safely handle respiratory therapy equipment.
• Adapt clinical approach to meet age-specific patient needs.
• Work independently and supervise shift needs when required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Illinois
• Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
• Associate’s degree or Certificate in Respiratory Therapy
• Experience in supervisory roles
• EKG Technician experience

• Must be able to work night shifts.
• Ability to supervise and work independently is essential.
• Sensitive to patient age-specific needs and adjusts care accordingly.
