Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately)
Job Summary
Provides surgical assistance to surgical residents and attending clinicians in the oral surgery clinic and dental ambulatory OR/procedure room.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients to the surgical chair and screen patients awaiting surgery.
- Review medical records to confirm required treatment and ensure charts are complete.
- Provide continuous “four-handed” assistance to clinicians during procedures.
- Clean and disinfect countertops, mayo stands, and equipment prior to setup.
- Organize sterile instruments, surgical trays, and equipment for each procedure.
- Take radiographs as requested before, during, or after procedures.
- Restock cabinets and drawers; order and stock medical/surgical supplies.
- Provide chair-side assistance including monitoring patient vitals, suctioning, passing instruments and medications.
- Remove instruments and equipment and dispose of medical waste after procedures.
- Respond effectively in case of emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technician with a minimum of 3 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Dental Assistant Certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Associate's Degree.
- Experience as a Dental Assistant.
