Respiratory Therapist I

Location: Lenoir, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Administer standard respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, basic bedside pulmonary function testing, breathing exercises, oxygen therapy, arterial cannulation, and arterial punctures.
• Manage airway care: aspiration of established airways, tracheostomy care and tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations.
• Perform pulmonary function testing as needed.
• Provide respiratory care and advanced procedures such as UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and blood glucose monitoring as required.
• Manage extracorporeal circulation for cardiac and respiratory support when working with ECMO.
• Perform all aspects of ventilator care including setup, function verification, and use of specialized ventilator modes.
• Monitor patients appropriately and provide ventilator weaning techniques.
• May be required to be on-call during days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Serve as a resource for staff and physicians, assist in training new staff, students, and physicians, and provide in-services.
• May assume Charge Therapist responsibilities.
• Document all patient care procedures thoroughly in the electronic medical record system.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
• Respiratory Therapist with 0 years of experience
• Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Experience with Epic electronic medical records system

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Adult respiratory therapy experience.
• Familiarity with Bella Vista Bypaps.
• Preferred experience with G5 Hamilton Ventilator, V60 Bypap, Volera System, and Vest System.

Additional Information

• Prior travel experience is not required.
