Job Description

Under general supervision, provide respiratory therapy services across all appropriate pediatric age levels and areas served by the department.

Essential Responsibilities

• Administer therapeutic treatments as prescribed by medical staff.
• Record treatment information and patient responses in computerized medical records.
• Serve as a resource to medical staff.
• Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic testing and patient monitoring.
• Provide age-appropriate respiratory care.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned and maintained.
• Maintain respiratory therapy records.
• Participate as a member of the quick response team for cardiac and respiratory arrests.

General Responsibilities

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Contract Length

• Approximately 13 weeks (89 days rounded to nearest week).

Experience Requirements

• Specialty Experience: None required; however, 2 years of respiratory care experience in a critical care setting is preferred.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not specified or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures and techniques, including operation and repair of respiratory equipment.
• Clinical decision-making skills related to pulmonary and cardiac patient care, appropriate to patient age.
• Ability to interpret information to identify patient needs.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships.
• Some computer skills required.

This position is suitable for respiratory care practitioners with pediatric experience seeking a short-term contract in a critical care environment.
