Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Henderson, Kentucky
• 13-week contract
• Night shift: 12 hours, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week; may accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Primary location: Henderson

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Schedule / Unit Details

• Bi-weekly orientation
• Every third weekend
• Every other holiday
• 45-bed unit
• Typical ratios: Days 1:4-5; Nights 1:5-7
• CN takes full assignment on nights and may take patients on days

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Midtown (IN)
• Mid-shift float within the same campus is possible
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Clinical / Patient Population

• General Med/Surg patients including gallbladder, colectomy, appendectomy, hip/knee replacements/ORIFs, COVID, GI bleeds, CHF, COPD, sepsis, UTI, and respiratory cases
• Skills include PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, drip management, PEGs/NGs, ostomy care, remote tele, blood product administration, NIHSS, and dysphagia screening

Additional Notes

• No local candidates within 40 miles
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Navy blue scrubs required; no competing health systems or agency logos
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
