Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana
• Primary location: Midtown
• Clinical interview required
• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius
• Contract length: 13 or 20 weeks
• Start date: 9/8
• Bi-weekly orientation

Schedule

• 12-hour day shift: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Will accept 48-hour contracts upon request
• Overtime applies after 52 hours on 48-hour contracts
• Weekend requirement: three weekends out of every six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement: every other holiday

Float Scope

• First to float within skillset
• May float to Deaconess Newburgh (IN) campus and potentially to Deaconess Henderson (KY)
• 2-hour notice given for cross-campus float
• Mid-shift float within the same campus
• Cross-campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Chest tube management
• NG/PEG tube care
• Straight catheterization and Foley catheter insertion
• Ostomy care
• Heparin drip administration
• Blood and blood product administration
• Tracheostomy care
• PCA pump management
• Trauma experience
• Experience with Epic

Preferred

• Hard worker
• Resilient and manages change well
• Social candidates

Clinical Setting

• 41-bed unit
• Patient population includes post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF
• Ratio: days 1:4-5; nights 1:6-7
• Skillset includes remote tele, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight cath/Foleys, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood/blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
• Teaching hospital; may require precepting students and new hires
• Experienced leadership and CNA support

• 3 call-ins can result in termination
• COVID-19 vaccine not required, subject to change
• Scrubs: no competing health systems or agency logos
