Unit Overview

Medical Intermediate Care Unit with 42 beds (21 medical-telemetry, 21 intermediate care)
Patient ratios: Intermediate care 1:3, Medical 1:6
Common cases: Pneumonia, COPD exacerbation, Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), Hyperosmolar hyperglycemic state (HHS), Alcohol withdrawal, Gastrointestinal bleeding, Sepsis, Pulmonary embolism, Urinary tract infection, Respiratory failure

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Massachusetts
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Certifications: ACLS, BLS
Experience with tracheostomies, mechanical ventilation, high-flow nasal cannula, cardiac drips, and BiPAP

Additional Information

Floating to other units may be required; nurses work on both medical-telemetry and intermediate care sides of the floor
