Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Variable schedule with evening and night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage required

Contract Length

• 11 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• 2+ years of ER experience
• 1+ year of trauma experience
• Prior travel experience required
• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC
• Epic experience required
• Must be comfortable providing culturally competent care to a highly diverse patient population

Unit Details

• Emergency department with 55 beds total, plus 8–12 swing beds and 4 trauma bays
• Average volume is about 250 patients per day
• Ratios: 4:1 in main ED, 5:1 in accelerated care, 2:1 in critical care
• Separate triage area
• Fast track is called accelerated care
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• In-house security
• Monitor techs present
• ED physicians and mid-levels available
• Charge nurse and house supervisor both available
• ED techs and patient sitters used as support staff

Clinical Responsibilities

• RN and MST staff read strips
• RNs draw ABGs and set up small-dose breathing treatments
• RNs are required to transport critical patients
• Nurse and MST draw blood

Orientation

• First day with ED leadership and badging
• 2–3 bedside orientation shifts

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs for nursing

Additional Notes

• Travelers may be asked to do triage only after additional orientation and competency testing
• No call or standby requirement
• No floating requirement
