Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every other weekend
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active California RN license
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• 3-5 years of ER experience

Preferred Experience

• Level III trauma experience or higher

Job Details

• Emergency room setting
• 15-bed unit with a 6-bed fast track area
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, depending on acuity
• Cerner FirstNet is used
• Charge nurse may take a small patient load if needed
• Unit secretary is available 24/7, with tech support for part of the day
• No floating
• 2-3 days of unit orientation
• Common patient types include stroke, abdominal pain, orthopedic injuries, and psychiatric cases
• About 100 patient visits per day
• Pediatric volume is about 500-600 patients per month

Clinical Support

• Ventilator support available
• One physician is always on site
• Mid-level providers are usually available from 9am to 2am
• Respiratory therapy is available 24/7
• Pharmacy is available 24/7
