- 12-hour nights
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active IL license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- BLS
- ACLS
- Last four digits of SSN
- Clinician’s middle initial
- Requested time off
- Negative drug screen for all panels
Unit Details
- Neuro ICU
- 18 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Travelers float first
- May float to any unit in the hospital, including intermediate and general floors
Clinical Experience / Skills
- Ventriculostomy
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Ventilators
- Arterial lines
- Central lines
- tPA
- Acute stroke management
- Post craniectomy
Patient Population
- Ventrics
- Strokes with/without TPA
- Cranis
Scheduling
- Every other weekend
- Rotating every other holiday
Additional Unit Information
- RNs are required to titrate drips
- Nurses read and interpret their own strips
- Tele tech staffed on every shift
- Charge nurse may take an assignment if staffing does not allow a free charge
- Nurse aids/patient care techs are present at a 9:1 ratio
- RT equipment is present, and RNs are expected to do more than troubleshoot as needed

- 20 hours of unit-specific orientation
- 12 hours of non-billable orientation
