Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Meridian, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (day or night available)
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description

• Work on a Telemetry unit with 27 beds (expanding by 10 beds soon)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
• Common patient diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, STEMI, Stroke, Sepsis, Diabetes, CAD, Renal Failure, Respiratory Failure, Pneumothorax, and post cath lab patients
• Experience with TR bands and Fem stops preferred (no sheath pulling)
• RNs will read and document telemetry data every 6 hours using SpaceLab monitors (transitioning to Philips)
• Telemetry techs currently on floor until June, then centralized off-site
• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor present (do not take patients)
• Nurse Aide ratio: 1:8 or 1:9
• Respiratory Therapists manage CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen equipment
• Floating to like units, Med/Surg, ICU (if experienced), and other nearby medical centers may be required
• Weekend and holiday coverage required; no call or standby duties
• Scrub color is flexible but must be clean and professional
• Orientation includes system onboarding plus 2 orientation shifts

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license for Idaho
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Telemetry nurse
• Cardiac drip experience required (common drips: set rate diltiazem and amiodarone; no titration of drips required)
• Experience with NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) assessments
• Experience in post cath lab recovery and chest tube care
• ACLS and BLS certifications required

Additional Information

• Nurse shifts: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Scheduling tries to accommodate traveler preferences but prioritizes unit needs; peer shift trades allowed
• Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
