Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MedSurg Tele Float)

Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

This is a float pool position covering all inpatient units based on competency, including ICU, Step-down, and Medical/Surgical units.

Units Covered

• ICU
• Step-down
• Medical/Surgical

Patient Types

• Cardiac patients
• Orthopedic/Neurological
• Surgical
• Medical (varies by unit)

Nurse-to-Patient Ratios

• Medical/Surgical: 1:6
• Step-down: 1:4 or 1:5
• ICU: 1:2 or 1:3

Shifts & Scheduling

• 3 shifts for 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
• 3 shifts for 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: As needed
• No call required; standby possible if census is low
• Daily unit assignments made by contacting staffing office

Orientation

• 3-4 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Required Experience & Skills

• Med/Surg nursing background required
• Step-down experience preferred
• RNs must be able to titrate drips in step-down areas only

Additional Information

• Monitor techs are present; CVU reads own strips
• CPAP and BiPAP equipment available on all units
• Ventilators are in ICU; chronic trach vents may be in step-down
• Charge nurse coverage: free charge on day shift (Mon-Fri), house supervisor 24/7
• Nurse aides are present on units
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs

License Requirement

• Current RN license required
