RN Surgery - West Burlington, Iowa

Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide intra-operative nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgical patients and healthcare team members.
  • Primary duties include circulating procedures, instrumentation, assisting surgeons and anesthesia providers.
  • Care for surgical patients of all ages in specialties including:
    • ENT
    • General Surgery
    • Orthopedics (including Spine)
    • Podiatry
    • Dental/Oral Surgery
    • Pain Management
    • Ophthalmology
    • Urology
    • OB/Gynecology (including C-sections)
    • Vascular
    • Bariatric
  • Clinical activities include circulating, instrumenting, first assisting, patient education, and serving as a resource nurse.
  • Additional call hours required.

Onboarding & Credential Requirements

Personal Health History / Immunizations

  • Influenza Vaccine (or facility declination) due annually by December 1 (season Sept 1 – March 31)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine (declination accepted)
  • MMR: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal
  • Tdap: Valid for 10 years; declinations accepted
  • TB Test: Negative test within past year (TSPOT or QuantiFERON IGG); if history of positive TB, must provide documentation including chest x-ray and questionnaire
  • Annual TB Questionnaire (required for positive TB or if no recent TB documentation)
  • Health Statement: Physician statement within last 12 months
  • Fit Test: Completed prior to start; acceptable masks include Moldex 1510, 3M 1860s, 3M 1860, Moldex 1513, 3M 1870+ Respirator
  • GRH OSHA Questionnaire: Candidate completes (not provider)

Professional Credentials & Documentation

  • Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Education Verification: Must be verified through 3rd party; if unable, combine with diploma/transcripts
  • 2 Professional References (1 must be from a supervisor)
  • Drug Screen: 10-panel within 30 days of start (THC not required); instant accepted if lab results pending
  • Skills Checklist: Completed within last 12 months (does not expire)
  • Background and Compliance Checks (all run within 30 days of start):
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM HHS/OIG
    • SING
    • NSO (if done with background check, upload here)
    • OFAC (if done with background check, upload here)
  • Resume or Profile
  • I-9 Attestation (must be on agency letterhead)
  • Color Vision Test
  • Contract Employee Data Sheet
  • GRH Iowa Adult and Child Abuse training (state requirement)
  • Pre-Orientation CBL Acknowledgement Form

This position requires a highly skilled RN with surgical experience and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced intra-operative environment. Compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory prior to onboarding.
