Job Opportunity: ICU RN Nights and EOW (Every Other Weekend) - 36 or 48 hrs

Location: Salem, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Population

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Level III Trauma Center
• 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU
• Patient diagnoses include Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, Cardiogenic Shock
• Attendings and Residents present 24/7

Work Schedule & Floating

• Night shifts and every other weekend (EOW) coverage
• Floating required to Medical/Surgical units (up to 4-5 patients)
• Rotating shifts for day positions (7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7p-7a); night shift does not rotate
• RN to patient ratio:

  • ICU: 1:2 or 1:1 (high acuity)
  • Med/Surg float: 1:4 or 1:5

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of continuous Adult ICU experience, preferably in MICU
• Must be able to read telemetry strips

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License
• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• Telemetry competency required

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

• EPIC

Required Health & Compliance Credentials

• N95 Fit Test (within 365 days, updated annually)
• MGB Medication Exam (80% passing within 365 days)
• MGB Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
• Influenza vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
• TB test (skin or blood test within 3 months, updated if >6 month break)
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 365 days)
• MGB Criminal Background Check (within 45 days prior to start)
• Massachusetts CORI background check (within 30 days prior to start)
• MGB Education Verification
• MGB SSN Trace
• MGB National Sex Offender Check
• MGB Exclusion Checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid exclusion lists)
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
• Other required documentation includes resume, references, skills checklist, and assignment confirmation forms

• On-site parking available
• Floating primarily to Medical/Surgical units
• No religious or medical exemptions allowed for N95 fit testing and influenza vaccine
• Must provide documentation for all required immunizations and screenings as specified

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong telemetry skills and the ability to float to med-surg units, seeking a travel contract in a Level III Trauma Center ICU setting.
