Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering patient care through the nursing process including assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN directs and coordinates all nursing care for patients based on established clinical nursing practice standards and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective and efficient patient care and desired patient outcomes.

The RN may be asked to float outside of the assigned units to assist with basic tasks such as vital signs, IV placement, and answering phones, but will not take full assignments outside their specialty.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN preferred)
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification required
• Excellent technical, interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills required

Certifications & Licenses Required Onboard

• Registered Nurse License (MA) – Primary source verification required
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• Fit Test for N95 Respirator (within 1 year)
• MGB Dysrhythmia Exam (80% passing)
• Influenza Vaccine (required during flu season, no exemptions)
• TB Test (skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date)
• Health Statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA (within 1 year)
• Criminal Background Check and Massachusetts CORI (within 45 days prior to start)
• Respirator Medical Clearance Attestation (if fit test required)
• Education Verification (highest level achieved)
• National Sex Offender Check (within 30 days of start)
• Exclusion Checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid lists)

Notes

• MA Conditional Licenses are not accepted
• No religious or medical exemptions allowed for flu vaccine or fit testing
• Fit testing cannot be done onsite; must be completed prior to start
• TB screening and health documentation must be current and updated if there is a break in employment greater than 6 months

This position operates within established organizational and departmental policies and reports to the Nurse Manager/Director.
