Job Opportunity: Certified Histotechnician
Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work hours: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday
- Responsible for performing various technical and related duties in the histology section of the laboratory
- Operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
- Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification or equivalent registration or registry eligibility required
- For candidates grandfathered by ASCP, a high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Must obtain certification within 1 year of employment or position will be forfeited
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience preferred (use 3 years as the required experience)
- Demonstrated competency in all special stain and immunohistochemical techniques, including preparation of various reagents and stains
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid HT or HTL (ASCP) certification/license appropriate for Histotechnician role
- Primary source verification of professional license/certification required within 30 days of start date
- MA Conditional Licenses are not accepted
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Documentation of MMR vaccination or proof of immunity
- Influenza vaccine required during flu season (Sept 15 – April 30) with no exemptions
- TB test documentation within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or proof of immunity strongly preferred
- Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit testing is required
- Criminal background checks, CORI, SSN trace, national sex offender check, and exclusion checks required prior to onboarding
- Submission of recent photo, resume (7 years work history), references, skills checklist, and candidate submission coversheet required
