Job Opportunity: RN First Assist
Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week (4x10s).
- On-call: Two days per week from 5 PM (or end of shift) to 7 PM, plus one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) every 3 weekends. Weekend call is 24 hours.
- Role: Assist the surgeon in a lead role until the conclusion of the operative procedure. May also circulate at times.
- Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Operating Room, following established policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 5 years of diversified peri-operative nursing experience.
- First Assist experience totaling 5 years, including experience within the last year.
- Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating.
- Recent perioperative nursing experience.
Additional Requirements
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings including:
- Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination.
- TB test within 3 months of start date (skin test or blood test) and updated if break >6 months.
- Physician health statement within 1 year of start date and updated if break >6 months.
- Fit test for N95 respirator within 1 year and updated annually (no exemptions allowed).
- Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required.
- Background checks including:
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months.
- Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start and updated if break >6 months.
- National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start and updated annually.
- Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start and annually.
- Submission of:
- Resume with past 7 years of work experience including city and state.
- Two professional references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher.
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year.
- Candidate submission coversheet.
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start date (no conditional licenses accepted).
