Job Opportunity: RN Emergency Room (Travel)

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Facility: 23 Bed Emergency Room in a large hospital setting

Job Details

• Specialty: RN Emergency Room
• Employment Type: Travel
• Contract Length: 12 weeks (interpreted as 12 weeks)
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 48 hours off over a two-week pay period
• Start Date: Immediate (start date needed on job)
• Residency Requirement: Must reside within 100 miles of the facility
• Transportation: Reliable transportation required due to limited ride-share options

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2+ years of current experience in Emergency Room nursing
• Previous travel experience preferred
• Experience in a large hospital setting required

Required Certifications & Licenses

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA card (front and back if not electronic)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – AHA card (front and back if not electronic)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• NIH Certification (required for RN specialties except OR)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card – as required per specialty/unit
• Nursys License Verification – within 30 days of start
• State License: Kentucky or compact license valid for Kentucky facilities

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Proof of 2 Varicella vaccinations or positive titer (or first dose started with second dose within 28-30 days)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination accepted
• Influenza vaccine (seasonal, October-March) or approved medical/religious exemption
• Tdap vaccine (valid 10 years from administered date; declinations accepted)
• Annual physical or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, stating clear to work without restrictions
• TB Quantiferon blood test within 1 year prior to start (annual update required)
• If positive TB record, proof of chest X-ray within last 5 years plus TB questionnaire

Background & Compliance

• Background checks within 30 days prior to start including:

  • 7-year county criminal history
  • Nationwide criminal, SSN trace, national sex offender registry
  • SAM, OIG, EPLS, OFAC checks
  • Education and employment verification
  • Driving record
• Drug screen (ARH 20/20 panel) within 30 days of start, annual update required
• ARH Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry verification within 30 days prior to start
• Submission packet required with cover page, resume, skills checklist, driver’s license, and license/certification verification in one PDF
• Two professional references required (one charge or higher, one supervisor)

Skills & Competency Requirements

• Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year prior to start, renewed annually
• Competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start
• EKG and telemetry exams with passing score of 80% or higher within 1 year prior to start
• Annual core competencies including HIPAA, patient rights, safety, infection control, elder abuse, cultural diversity, advance directives, etc.

• Assignment confirmation form must be submitted within 24 hours of accepting the offer
• Must submit to only one job at a time
• Reliable transportation is essential due to limited ride-share options in the area
